Weekly Address: Losing Insurance Can Happen to Anybody
The President discusses a staggering new report from the Treasury Department indicating that under the status quo around half of all Americans under 65 will lose their health coverage at some point over the next ten years. He pledges not to allow this future to unfold: In the United States of America, no one should have to worry that theyll go without health care not for one year, not for one month, not for one day. And once I sign my health reform plan into law they wont. September 12, 2009. (Public Domain)

Actually a person …
Actually a person can STILL go bankrupt even WITH health insurance-if something big happens private insurance will fight tooth and nail not to pay. They pay people to deny payments.

Yeah-you have to …
Yeah-you have to give him credit for that. Because it’s going to spiral so high only the rich can afford it and hospitals will start shutting down due to lack of insurance. You may have to drive hundreds of miles to access a hospital and have longer waits. If you don’t try to fix it, our country WILL plunge into third world conditions truly, and the only “healthcare” person you can see is a local herbalist which doesn’t do squat!

Dear Mr. President: …
Dear Mr. President: If you believe in health care reform, then stick with it and don’t listen to all of these red neck idiots. Just look how they post which represents their mentality incapable of reason & cannot even say anything intelligent. They remind me of “Jerry Springer” guests who probably breed with their brothers & sisters. Though I may not agree with a single payer plan, that’s really irrelevant. I like a person who STICKS with their agenda and DOES what they believe in-decisively!

What amazes me is …
What amazes me is that so many people are fighting against their own health insurance and would rather leave it all up to the private companies who jack up their prices in cahoots with each other-like they always do which is why its so expensive.. Did you know there really are not that many companies to choose from and private insurance will fight tooth and nail NOT to pay when something big happens.

I apologize for the hyperbole, and that comment didn’t necessarily apply to you personally. But you know as well as I do that a lot of the anti-Obama forces are opposing his policies because they don’t accept his legitimacy as president for any or all of the factors I stated.
If you’ve been saying that about ALL federal politics for years, I can respect your opinion. I still disagree, though. As an example, I think referenda have hamstrung the California govt. and make it dysfunctional.

False (and silly) …
False (and silly) dichotomy.
I don’t believe lobbyists should continue to control Congress the way they do. The solution to that is legislation, not introducing referenda for all public policy. If you think that system works, just look at California. If lobbyists can influence elections, they can also influence referenda.
I also don’t think Obama should be the first President in history forced to have a referendum on his policy initiatives just because he’s a black, liberal Democrat.

so you believe, just because no previous President had to have a referendum vote, we should continue this process of lobbyist influenced politicians deciding what’s best for the people of America ?

Sorry, you must …
Sorry, you must have stopped your time machine at the wrong period in American history. This isn’t the McCarthy era, and calling somebody a communist won’t destroy his credibility. All it does is make you look silly.
Update your rhetoric, and get ready for the 21st Century, kiddo! Demagoguery is on the decline and reason is on the rise!
