Maybe because one was hand-timed and one was electric… For the record Percy Harvin was always timed around a 4.2 at Florida, including at the 2008 spring game. The NFL combine uses a much more accurate timing method so the times tend to be slower.

Every year there’s …
Every year there’s always a couple rumored times floating around of guys running 4.1/4.2 and the majority of the time, the times aren’t accurate as evidence when they end up running at the NFL combine, that isn’t to say Witherspoon’s are also inaccurate though. I can’t say I’m not entirely sure where I’d put Witherspoon on this list, based on his credible times during his track career I personally probably would have him in the lower half probably around 7-9 range, I could be wrong though.

Great mention with Witherspoon, however he wasn’t in college last year which is why he isn’t anywhere on this list. He went to Stillman College which I believe is in Division II. I remember 3 years ago he finished 4th in the 100m at NCAA Outdoors for Division 2 so he certainly does have the speed and better yet he has verifiable speed. I’ve also seen his youtube videos however I’ve always been incredulous of 40 yard dash times, especially hand times ones.

Holliday is 1st …
Holliday is 1st this is only half of a two part video, I thought I made that pretty clear. That’s why it only went up to number 6. There’s a link in the video info and at the end of the video to get to part 2 which as the rest of the players on my list #1-5, including Holliday.
Good call on Banks though he was really fast coming out of high school. I was aware of him but I honestly haven’t seen him play that much, he definitely is fast but I think he’d be right outside the top 10, imo.

The thing is though …
The thing is though there are other guys around the country that don’t get the recognition or that come from smaller schools that are equally fast or faster that people aren’t just familiar with. Guys like Chris Johnson from ECU who was pretty much unknown to 90% of CFB/NFL fans until he ran his 40 at the NFL combine last year. Anyway I don’t mean to rant to you it just gets old when every other comment is unsupported criticism by another ignorant “ESPN” fan. Anyway thanks for watching.

The funny thing is I find that the guys that always make these comments usually don’t know that much about college football anyways. Most of them are what I like to call “ESPN” fans. Their perception of college football is limited to the players that they’ve been familiarized by national media and cable tv. The players that you’d see on Sportscenter or who’s teams play on major networks like CBS, ABC, and ESPN.

Thank you I really appreciate this comment, a lot of people can’t keep their criticism to themselves. Just watch the video if you don’t agree make your own. I’ve actually spent a lot of time following college football and tried to a make a list that I felt represented my personal interpretation of the fastest guy in college football, I don’t claim it’s perfect but I feel it’s accurate. Some of these comments are so annoying “what about this player?”, “he should be higher”, etc.
