    Then I would …
Then I would suggest that the saying predates the movie. Have you ever heard anything original come out of Hollywood? In 1975 or ‘76 I was introduced by a fellow guitar picker and golfing buddy to “Deaf” Freddy Jefferson, a fine, elderly blues guitar picker who lived with his niece near Southern Pines N.C. We used to go and pick with Mr. Freddy when I would visit. Apparently, he was sweet on a singer in Atlanta when he was young and that’s who he was referring to when he said it. Great man..

    Don’t be upset, but …
Don’t be upset, but i think you’re not telling the truth… That’s a phrase from the movie “Corrina, Corrina” with Whoopi Goldberg and Ray Liotta… And no, if Dusty Springfield would sing the phonebook to me, I wouldn’t cry at all, I would ask her for her drugs… Because I’d like to have this too :-)

One of my favorite performances from her show, i agree mycroftsbrother, her live versions of her songs are always better than her recordings.

    Hiya
It’s good to see that Dusty means so much to so many different people, how I miss her, during the early hours when the house is quiet it’s just me and Dusty and the glow from the fire, I just sit here and let her voice wash all over me, God bless yer lass, rest in piece X X Ray♥

    I agree. To …
I agree. To paraphrase an old blues singer friend of mine when he was really impressed with someone’s singing, “She could sing the phonebook to you and make you cry on every name.”

    Amazing!!!!….. …
Amazing!!!!…..there are 58 (now 59 comments) on this posting…..And something has happened that hardly ever happens in 6 pages of comments on YouTube.

Not ONE disparaging remark or putdown! ONLY accolades; raves; tributes; acknow ledgements….. and devoted words of how much she has inspired us. Truly an indictment on THE GREATEST female pop singer in musical history!!!

    Yes………like …
Yes………like Muhummad Ali, she was, she is, and will always remain THE GREATEST!!!

All of us, on this blog know that to be the case.

Does and has popular music ever, eveeeeer ….. been more soulful (and spine-tingling) than between the 2.07 mark and 2.42 mark of this masterpiece (or should that be mistresspiece) ???

    Tell us what you think???

    although to my …
although to my knowledge (which is admittedly limited!) he wrote mostly for the aussie folk group the seekers if i`m not mistaken this song was written by dusty`s brother tom (dion).

    I agree with the …
I agree with the live performance accolades. I enjoy Dusty’s recordings very, very much, but I think she was in her element on stage. Seeing these clips of her TV shows and live performances seem to show how much she enjoyed the interaction with her audience. I read somewhere that she hated recording studios, but as you can see, she was born to please a crowd.
