Although this is from one of Rod’s solo albums, it’s really a Faces performance. Arguably the best thing they ever did.

Rod Stewarts best …
Rod Stewarts best song by far. So much meaning to me. The night I met my ex husband, New Years eve 71 going into 72, listening to this over and over…Many great years..but this song said it all…”Our” love is fading…yeah I know I’m losing you. We lost each other…but found each other. Good news. We’re best friends now, just not husband and wife….cool. I’m happy.

I always felt that …
I always felt that the intro building up to “Your love is fading…” perfectly conveyed that sick, hopeless feeling one gets when the realization that you’ve lost her first hits the pit of your stomach. She’s still in the same room with you but she’s already gone…

I prefer this version to the Temptations version. Done with feeling, not slick and smooth like the Temptations.
