What happens to promotional clothing when teams lose?
When sports teams win championships in elimination games (such as this year's Stanley Cup), immediately after winning, the players are wearing their "championship" T-shirts, hats, etc. in interviews and such. Obviously, the losing teams also created their own "championship" stuff, which now is useless because they didn't win and can't wear any of it. What do they do with it all?
I have read that it is donated to clothing drives and gets shipped overseas. The anecdote is that there are a lot of African kids who are wearing "Buffalo Bills Superbowl Champs" t-shirts.

According to Esquire, they burn baseball clothing, send basketball and football clothing to needy people in Africa, and they insulted hockey, so one of the two before might apply.
